Welcome to the IFAH-Europe website

IFAH-Europe (International Federation for Animal Health Europe) is the federation representing manufacturers of veterinary medicines, vaccines and other animal health products in Europe. It represents both corporate members and national animal health associations in Europe. These associations comprise both local medium-size enterprises (SMEs) and international companies. IFAH-Europe's membership covers 90% of the European market for veterinary products.

“Pets can save lives”
European Pet Night 2012 showcases how animals detect diseases

Pets not only bring pleasure to life in the form of companionship; they can also help save lives through disease detection and can assist people with potentially life-threatening health conditions. This was the main message during this year's European Pet Night which assembled European decision-makers, animal health and welfare associations and related stakeholders in the Bibliothèque Solvay in Brussels.

Schmallenberg Virus:

There have been reports of an outbreak of a novel virus among cattle, sheep and goats in Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK.
In August 2011, the first clinical signs appeared in cattle including fever, reduced milk yield, and in some cases diarrhoea.
In November 2011 and in January 2012, additional clinical signs appeared as miscarriages and stillbirths associated with congenital abnormalities, mainly affecting sheep, but also cattle and goats.

Animals are good for us, be good to them - We care

IFAH-Europe has just published a new leaflet promoting responsible pet ownership. Aimed at pet owners and interested parties across Europe the leaflet highlights the social impact of animals and the importance of good health, and also provides statistics on the types and number of pets in the EU.

 IFAH-Europe Annual Report 2011

The IFAH-Europe 2011 annual report is now available for public consultation and download. This year, the report opens with a message from David Mackay, Head of Veterinary Medicines and Product Data Management at the European Medicines Agency and includes an "eye-to-eye" with the Chairs of IFAH-Europe's operating committees dealing with our main strategic priorities: regulatory affairs, food chain and communications.
