Estonia presides over the Council of the European Union from 1 July to 31 December 2017. To mark the start of this new presidency, IFAH-Europe would like to express its hopes for a continued interest in animal health priorities from the Estonian Presidency.
IFAH-Europe is strongly encouraged by the Presidency’s commitment to maintain a sustained effort to continue the legislative deliberations of the proposals for a new Regulation on Veterinary Medicinal Products, as well as Medicated Feed.
Europe’s animal health industry fully supports the Presidency’s objective of a supporting an open and innovative European economy.Work should focus on a framework that can support competitiveness and boost innovation, whilst helping to create jobs and growth in Europe.
The animal health industry calls on the EU institutions to ensure that the new legislation is consistently based on European principles, science, and uses risk-based regulatory approaches to maximise efficient utilisation of resources.
